Documentary photography in India
Images by Kristian Bertel. Traveling through the slum streets of India, I wanted to seek out faces with a story. As a documentary photographer, I was travelling the dusty countryside of Rajasthan. For me, it was an unique opportunity to hunt down photo motives in the many side streets. As well as this opportunity, I found an remarkable daily life and the motives in front of me. Motives that brought me further into the villages of India. Here families are living side by side in their modest homes.

Vitiligo
Vitiligo, as pictured above, is a chronic disorder that causes depigmentation of patches of skin. It occurs when melanocytes, the cells responsible for skin pigmentation, die or are unable to function. The cause of vitiligo is unknown, but research suggests that it may arise from autoimmune, genetic, oxidative stress, neural, or viral causes. The incidence worldwide is less than 1%. The most common form is non-segmental vitiligo.
